In February 2018 two key pieces of Statutory Guidance were published by the Department for Education for maintained schools and Academies:
The Stepladder of Achievement is a tailor made programme of six steps created by the Share Foundation for young people in care aged 15 to 17 years to develop life skills for employment, higher education or training, and for living independently.
Research shows that children who have been adopted from care or who are the subject of special guardianship orders do less than half as well as their non-adopted peers at the end of primary and secondary school.
Welcome to the Virtual School Kent Website
This website aims to be a one stop portal for professionals working with Children in Care and Young Care Leavers. It is a place to access information, advice and guidance, share best practice and gain a complete picture of the multi-agency work which goes on in support of our CiC and YCL. I hope that you will find this website useful and I would welcome any feedback on it as we continue to develop it so that it meets all of your needs.
